Therefore, Enver Pasha thought that Muslim nations could be more successful with anti-imperialist conditions compared to Pan-Islamism conditions in winning their independence case. Such change in his ideas took place after the 2nd Congress of Communist International in July 1920. Enver Pasha, who went to Buhara with a few friends he trusted on 4 October 1921, joined Turkistan people rising against Bolshevik Russia there. In other words, he took the leadership. They altogether started to fight a merciless struggle against Russians for New Turan. This hard struggle lasted exactly for ten months. In Tacikistan, on 4 August 1922 Friday, in the morning of a festival, in Abdere in the vicinity of Belcivan, on Çegen Hill, during a gang conflict against Russians, Enver Pasha fell martyr being shot on his heart while fighting on his horse named Derviş.
MARTYRDOM OF ENVER PASHA The martyrdom of Enver Pasha, who is one of the rare heroes brought up in the progress of Turkish History in time, is undoubtedly high and exalted enough to form an example for generations. We see the details of the same in the book named Türkistan Millî Hareketleri by Abdullah Receb Baysun, mucahid from Turkistan, who was always with him during the Turkistan war of the Pasha: Last days of July, the headquarters is between the tiny vineyards and orchards of Abıdere village. Sun is trying to mature the grapes which just started to mature... The tiredness of the travel with wars lasting for days will be removed here... resting... getting prepared...
Chests full of hope again, will be opened to encounter the bullets of the enemy again. Muslim Festival of sacrifices is approaching... 3rd day of August, Thursday... One of the most cheerful days of the Pasha... The second letter from his family brought joy before the festival to arrive two days later. This voice of our children and family resembled no other joy.
Pasha accepted with pleasure the proposal of Devletmend Bey to perform festival prayer together in the headquarters near Havalin. The group consisting of 30 people started out before the sunrise to reach the festival prayer to be performed on 4th of August on Thursday in 1922...
Devletmend Bey together with his soldiers, welcomed this group going with Enver Pasha to perform their festival prayers joined with a crowded group of people. Teas were drank by the water sleeping under the shadows of tall trees. Enver Pasha accepted with pleasure the Tartuk offered by Devletmend Bey. Gifts by the people to Emirs and Khans are called Tartuk in Turkistan. This Tartuk consisted of a robe with golden and silver embroideries and a turban. A crowded community started performing the prayer. Allahü Ekber voices were declining from the eternity of skies to the mystery of the earth... The prayer came to an end, we congratulated each other. We drank cold fizzy koumisses and ate. It was a very cheerful day. Soon evening arrived. We are turning back... Although Pasha forbade, a crowded group of people saw us off almost as far as half of the way...
On the way, indications reminding the sorrow of an ending day became apparent on Pashas face... It is 10 oclock at night. We gathered around Pasha. We talked a lot. We were thanking to Pasha who wished that I hope we perform the next festival prayer in Buhara.
He was telling stories about longing for country to lessen it, without talking about his share. But he was different in his manners. The deep shadows of a totally different mourning was apparent in his face and eyes. It was late at night. We stood up... It was obvious that Pasha wanted to say something. We could not ask... At last, he said, laughing: I could not find a festival gift to give you. What if you write a few lines about our friendship? I would seal them. I thought these letters would constitute a memory of our friendship in national struggle by reminding me. We accepted with pleasure and left him.. We asked to each other such totally different manners of Pasha being unable to foresee the future, and thought of two possibilities: 1- Arrival of the festival, which stimulated longing for the motherland and family... 2- Unexpected events in the last days of National Movement... These may have destroyed his joy.
One of our friends, Nafi Bey, immediately had the papers Pasha demanded written by Ömer Effendi, one of the clerks. He took them to Pasha for sealing. We saw that he sealed with not only his official seal but also his private seal he made when he was a student in Istanbul War School in 1300. His day of Martyrdom: 5 August 1922 Friday Morning. The headquarters is deeply silent. We do not know yet the darkness of the night and our future darkened by the rise of the sun. Pasha, waking up early as he was used to, ordered the soldiers to gather in some spacious place. He was going to congratulate the festival day of the soldiers and distribute allowances. Six oclock... A gunshot from the patrol was heard. This was a parole for raid. Pasha, getting on his horse to go to his soldiers turned back and gave some orders immediately, ran toward the place the gunshot was heard.
Since such assaults by the Russians were usual, it was not weighed much. Russian soldiers are gradually increasing... This assault is not like an ordinary one... The war is becoming bigger... Pasha, seeing such severity, ordered immediate participation of all commanders and soldiers in the war. Faruk, Danyal, Boribetaş and other commanders are all on duty...The war escalated...
