After the suppression of the rebellion of his uncle, Kavurd, the Sultan Melikshah paid much attention to the conquest of Anatolia and assigned several Turkmen beys with the charge of the organisation of the movements for this conquest. Meanwhile, the Byzantine Empire that was attenuated due to the struggles for the crown did not have any power to resist to the Turkish raids any more. As a matter of fact, the Turkish army under the command of Artuk Bey defeated the Byzantine forces near Izmit in a crushing manner. At the same time, we have seen Kutalmisoglu Suleymanshah in Anatolia that was the founder of Turkey Seljuks State. In the beginning, Kutalmisogullari (Kutalmis' Sons) had assumed an opponent attitude against Sultan Melikshah, but through the mediation of the caliph, they were commissioned with the charge of the conquest of Anatolia. Kutalmisogullari had also received the firman for the emirate in the countries that they were to conquer from Melikshah. Since the year of 1074, the activities of Suleymanshah in Anatolia could be determined. In the same year, Suleymanshah had besieged the Antioch and Aleppo. He had been in conflict with Atsiz who was the ruler of Syria and upon this discord, he oriented towards the Central Anatolia and captured Konya in the year of 1077. Afterwards, Suleymanshah had had the opportunity to intervene in the struggles for the sovereignty in the Byzantine and therefore, he captured lots of cities and castles without any pains. Suleymanshah captured Iznik in the year of 107 and moved his capital city to this region. Therefore, he laid the foundation of Turkey Seljuk State.
