It will be properly considered that the following periods were the “history of rebellions” in the Kazakh history. These rebellions were organised for freedom, independence, and sovereignty and they lasted for three centuries. At the end of 18th century, the armed rebellions of Small Section Kazakh people expanded towards extensive regions. Of these rebellions, the most significant ones were organised and managed under the leadership of Sırım Batır (1783-1797), Karatay Sultan (1797-1814), Arınğazı Sultan (1816-1821), İsatay Mahambet (1836-1837), Eset Batır (1853-1858), Cankoca Batır (1856-1857), and Kenesarı Navruzbay (1841-1847). At the end of the century, the Small Section Kazakh people rebelled against the pressure of Kokan Beys in the Southern Kazakhstan in the year of 1858. The great rebellion of Kazakh people was initiated upon the publication of their decree for the “Activation of the Foreigners” that was issued on the date of 25th June 1916. These are the rebellions that took place in the period of Tsarist Russia.

The reason of these rebellions was the Russian policy that included the execution of colonisation policy by the Russians in the country of Kazakh people that they invaded, the abuse of all facilities and opportunities of these lands, the establishment of a settled colony with the immigrants that the Russians had settled in these regions, the construction of Russian castles, the forced migration of the native Kazakh people, the transgression of the Russians over the language, religion and lifestyle of Kazakh people, etc.

In the course of the history of Kazakh people under the Soviet domination, there were some important events and actions against the Kazakh people and the regime that took place between the years of 1930-1986. These events include the artificial poverty in the year of 1933, the racial extermination (genocide) between the years of 1937-1938, the forced allocation of an area of 6 millions and 300 thousand hectares to the Russian immigrants in the year of 1954, the application of the plans for the establishment of Russian immigrants until the years of 1960's and the famous “CELTOKSAN” incident that took place on the date of 17th-18th December 1986.

Finally, upon the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Kazakhstan declared its sovereignty on the date of 25th October 1990 and its independency on the date of 16th November 1991.
