It is one of the Turkish myths telling about the conquest of Anatolia and the heroes of this conquest; and it was shaped in 12th century and was transformed into written form in 13th century. Danishmendname was qualified as a history book for a long time due to the compliance of the events to the historical facts, as the heroes were real Turkish chieftains and as the places were told by their real names in Anatolia.

Although Köroglu text is recalled as a myth and although it has some mythological qualities, its examples complied in Anatolia during 20th century are more close to the folk stories. The summary of the story, told in 24 versions by the storytellers in Anatolia is as follows:
