Kubilay Khan is a great emperor who dominated over whole China. He is a ruler who governed the greatest number of people overshadowing all rulers before him. Kubilay is a grandson of Genghiz Khan. He is from a family which brought up great commanders and heroes. His brother Mengu, who was elected as the ruler, sent Kubilay to capture Eastern countries and Hulagu to capture Western countries.
Mengu died in 1259. He was elected as the ruler due to the decision of a big general assembly in which princes and emirs in the army of the Kubilay were present. He first defeated his younger brother Arıkboğa, who did not accept this decision. However, he did not behave badly to his brother. His such just behavior arose liking of Hulagu and other princes. They accepted him as the ruler.
Kubilay Khan ruled between 1260 and 1294 for 25 years establishing a major empire in China.
Kubilay Khan first took Siang Yang with a great army. He added big Chinese states in his country with harsh wars. He made Peking his capital in 1264 and took all China in 1280. The borders of his state reached as far as Kıpçak, Çagatay, Almalik, Iran and in the north, Pologne borders. Kubilay Khan could not be successful in his attacks on Japan, Annam and Çampa. He won a great victory in Burma.
Kubilay Khan was a brave and strong ruler. His life passed conquering countries and enlarging his empire. He is one of the leading rulers who established one of the greatest empires in the world history. He always had together with him scientists, statesmen and diplomats from various nations.

Kubilay died in 1204 when he was 78.
