In the course of the struggles between Tutus and Berkyaruk that had been the heir apparent of the throne in the Great Seljuk State, the region of Diyarbekir had been shared among miscellaneous emirs. Meanwhile, a Turkish emir named as Sadr dominated in Amid (Diyarbekir). This domination had been maintained by Inal (1098) one of the Turkmen emirs that was Sadr’s brother who replaced him and who had been considered as the founder of this dynasty.

Emîr Inal had not lived for long, and his son, Ibrahim had replaced him. Emir Ibrahim was submissive to Damascus branch of Syrian Seljuks State that had been divided into two branches upon the death of Tutus. Inalogullari principality had been involved in the Seljuk army under the command of Kurboga, the emir of Mosul that set in motion in order to recapture Antioch from the Crusades in the year of 1098.Emîr Ibrâhîm had been submissive to the Great Seljuk State, Turkey Seljuk State and Ermenshah Principality in accordance with the changing conditions. In the period of Il Aldi (1110-1142), he collaborated with Emîr Zengî and Timurtas who had been the emir of Mardin from Artuklu principality and they besieged Amid. However, they had to retreat against the strong city walls of the province (1134). Upon the death of Emir Il-Aldi, it has been observed that the Vizier Nisanoğlu Mü’eyyeddîn and his sons played an important role and they were dominant in the administration of Inalogullari principality.

Emir Timurtas had besieged Amid for two times in the year of 1151. Pursuant to these blockades, Inalogullari principality and Nisanogullari family who imposed pressure upon this emirate were submissive to Mardin Artuklu principality. Nureddin Muhammed from Hisn Keyfa Artuklu principality had been submissive to Selahaddin Eyyubi and he had fulfilled all his duties in the service of him. However, Nureddin had a mere desire. His desire was the domination in the city of Amid. Salahaddin promised to capture the named city and to give it to him for his domination. In order to keep his word, Salahaddin advanced towards Amid together with Nureddin Muhammed as his attendant and he besieged the city. As a result, he penetrated into Amid on the date of 9th May 1183 and he gave this city to Nureddin Muhammed. Theredore, Inalogullari principality had been abolished.

In the period of Inalogullari principality, Amid had been highly developed in respect of economy and culture and there had been significant public works executed in the city. We have known that the mosque named as Diyarbekir Ulu Camii that had been burnt in the period of Emir Il-Aldi was reconstructed. This emir had also an epitaph on the city walls. In the period of Inalogullari principality, the textile industry was highly developed and carpets, fabrics and tent clothes had been manufactured in this city. In the year of 1122, the mineral of copper had been found within the environs of the castles of Zu’lkameyn and Ergani connected to Amid in the year of 1122 and this metal was processed.
