As a result of the archaeological excavations and the materials found thereof, it has been proved that the Turkish tribes that had settled on the banks of the Middle Idyll and in the south of Ural Mountains had cultivated their lands since the Bulgarian period and they were highly developed in respect of agriculture. Similarly, most of the people of Kazan Khanate were occupied wit agriculture. As a natural consequence of stock breeding, the leather industry was highly developed. The fishing was developed since fish were abundant in Idyll, Kama, Noktrat (Viyatka) and the other cities, and particularly the salty fish had an important place among the export goods. The other important food industry that had developed in the forests of the country was the issues related with honey and wax due to apiculture. It has been known that the native merchants had travelled among the villages and collected furs and honey and these materials had an important place in the market of Kazan.
