Tokta Khan died in the year of 1312 and Uzbek Khan replaced him. In the period of Uzbek Khan, the Golden Horde State became entirely a Turkish state. Uzbek Khan took and gave daughters for marriage and thus, established relative relationship with the Mameluke State. The dynasty of the ruler had become Turks not only in respect of the language and culture, but also in respect of their blood ties. The people were actually Turks. However, all the Northern Turks (Oguz people, Bulgarians, Kipchak and Kuman people) were called as Tatars and the Turkish culture would be named as Tatar culture from that date on. Uzbek Khan was a dynamic ruler when he ascended the throne at the age of 30. He captured Azerbaijan. He had made an amendment on the system of taxation collected from the Russian princes. He gave importance to the religion of Islam and the city of Saray had become an important religious centre. He had constructed several theological schools and mosques.
Upon the death of Uzbek Khan in the year of 1341, he was firstly replaced by his son, Tini Beg. After a year, he was replaced by his other son, Cani Bey. Cani Bey can be considered as the last ruler of the Golden Horde State. In his period, the state got much more developed. The Ilhanli State was abolished in Iran and Cani Bey totally captured Tabriz. However, in this period, the relations of the Golden Horde State with the Mameluke State were disconnected. The Ottoman State that was a new and powerful Turkish State that was founded in Anatolia had penetrated into the Balkans and advanced towards the south on the other hand.
When Cani Bey died in the year of 1357, the struggles burst out. Cani Bey's son ascended the throne; but he could only live for two years. 14 khans had ascended the throne in the course of the conflicts that lasted between the years of 1360-1380. After this period of turmoil that lasted for twenty years, Toktamiş Khan who ascended the throne in the year of 1380 established order and dominion.
Pursuant to Berdi Bey who died in the year of 1351, the dynasty of Batu Khan came to an end. Toktamiş Khan had established his domination and authority over the throne; but several emirs had declared their independencies and khanates at the same period. Furthermore, Lithuania and Podolia princedoms also declared their independencies. Emir Mamay Mirza had gained a power and influence proper enough to act on his own and he enthroned Abdullah who was one of the sons of Ozbek Khan. Therefore, the Golden Horde State was divided into two branches.
