Timur Empire
could not ascend the throne since he was not from Jenghiz's lineage, but
While Tamburlaine was at the age of 25, he was in the service of Kazgan Khan who had been one of the governors of Chagatai Khanate and he was promoted as the commander of a big troop. Kazgan Khan married him with his daughter, Olcay Turkan. The enemies of Kazgan Khan trapped and killed him. Tamburlaine declared war against those who killed Kazgan Khan and then, he annihilated all of them. Due to these successes, Chagatai Khan took him into his service and assigned him as the Tyumen Bey.
Afterwards, Tamburlaine increased his influence and power with a great speed. He was frequently involved in the struggles that burst out between the khans and beys; and he would appreciate the situations in his favour. The scholars of the period had started to consider Tamburlaine as the leader that would stop the swift decline of the state.
In the year of 1370, Tamburlaine became the absolute ruler and fully independent in the city of Belh. However, he was not from Jenghiz dynasty and he wanted to get the advantage of the great prestige of the Jenghiz dynasty. Therefore, he enthroned Soyurgatmiş Khan from Chagatai dynasty that pertained to Jenghiz lineage. He took him everywhere with him as a puppet ruler during his lifetime. He seemed to be submissive to him in form; but he was the main ruler actually.
The Grand Assembly that gathered in Belh entitled Tamburlaine with the titles of ""Kutbeddin" and Sâhib Kırân". After a short while, Tamburlaine moved the capital city from Belh to Samarkand. Then, he organised successful military expeditions to the four directions. He would apply the tactics that were planned in details, he would make express fights and he would finalise all his military expeditions with victories. He organised three military expeditions to Harezm and two expeditions to Mongolia between the years of 1371-1377. He introduced his fame through the first military expedition of Golden Horde in the year of 1378. He also organised another military expedition to Harezm again in the year of 1379. He penetrated into Herat in the year of 1380 and therefore, Harezm and Khorasan were totally conquered. Through the military expeditions that he organised until the year of 1389, he captured the regions of Turfan and Karaşar and he subdued the Uighuristan.
He organised military expeditions of Golden Horde again in the years of 1390 and 1391. The reason for this last military expedition was the ingratitude of the Golden Horde Khan, Toktamiş Khan since Timur had supported Toktamis Khan in his previous military expeditions and he had annihilated his enemies. When Toktamis Khan gained power through this support, he rebelled against Tamburlaine. In this military expedition of him, he had to invade and destroy all the country in order to abolish Toktamis that established dominion in the Eastern Europe. This situation would cause the emergence and development of Russia and Tamburlaine would be blamed by the historians in the further period due to this development that he caused accidentally.
"I became the khan of 27 countries by means of valuable gallants"
Tamburlaine conquered Iraq and Southern Anatolia through four military expeditions that he carried out until the year of 1401; and Indian Delhi Sultanate through the military expeditions between the years of 1398-99; and Syria in the years of 1401-1402. Finally, he defeated the Ottoman State in Ankara War that took place in the year of 1402 and he subdued them under his domination.
Tamburlaine who had stated that "I conquered lots of regions and became the khan of 27 countries by means of valuable gallants classified the countries that he had established domination on as a khan : Turan, Iran, Greek (Anatolia), Morocco, Syria, Egypt, Arabian Iraq, Persian Iraq, Mazenderan, Geylan, Shirvan, Azerbaijan, Fars, Khorasan, Jeddah, Great Tataristan, Harezm, Hotin, Kabul, Bahter, Zemin, India... (He had given the names of twenty-two countries, the others were the Caucasian countries such as Georgia, Armenia, etc.)
