INDEPENDENCE GIVEN TO IRAQ

In June 1930 England mandating Iraq,gave its independence.But England’s benefit in the area wasn’t forgotten.With regard to the Treaty’s 1 st language signed between Iraq and England,Iraq would consult England about the issue of foreign policy and communual benefit.Also according to the same Treaty’s 4th language During the war Iraq’s lands,horbours,railways and the other institution would be at England’s disposal.Related to the 5th language perminant military bases in Iraq wouldn’t be attackted.Iraq captured by the English was nominated for National Assembly in 1932 and was accepted.

After the so-called independence given Iraq,Government’s pressure on Turks in Iraq began to increase.The only thing that the Governmet wanted to do was to accept the Turks as Iraq citizen.Actually Iraq Government had accepted to give Turk’s political right During the Iraq president Muhsin Sadun.Even the idea about Turk’s political right was thought in 1920 at first establihment of the government and a Turk from Kerkuk was elected for Council of Minister.According to the Treaty’s 3th language,constitution which was thought to prepared there wouldn’t be any differences in political rights among the citizen and the school which educate students in Native language was saved.

Government taking this matter into account published constitution in Turkish, Kurdish and Arabic in this constitution and all the alternation in other constitutions made until the establishment of the Iraq Republic there wasn’t any political and ethnic differences among the citizens.

In 1933 the Constitution which was shaped in 17 th language was informed that Arabic would be official language in Iraq; apart from the matters excepted by law. As for the matter made exceptions was expressed with the law of ”Local Language” numbered 74 in 1931.

According to this law judgement would be made inTurkish in some Turkish area especially in Erbil and Kerkuk. The primary school generally having Turkish Student was decided to be educated in Turkish.
