History of Kyrgyzstan
The First Khirghiz State
In the Kok Turk inscriptions that are the most ancient written documents of Turks known so far, the Khirghiz people are cited among the Turkish tribes that date back in the very ancient periods of the history. In the almanacs pertaining to the Chinese history, we come across with Khirghiz people within the explanations of the events in the periods of Huns in the 2nd century BC. It has been understood that the Khirghiz Turks had established their first known state in the region that extend from todays lands of Kyrgyzstan towards the east and the northeast (in the east and northeast of Tien Shan Mountains) in the 2nd century BC. Actually, the archaeological and anthropological researches that were carried out in the region display that the Turks had lived on the same geographical regions in the history that dates back beyond the 2nd century BC.
