The country is full of rivers. The most significant one is Yenisey. Yenisey River takes the name of "Ulug Hem" (Yenisei) when the Rivers of "Beg Hem" and "Kaa Hem" run into one another. This point is the place where the capital of the country, the Red City is located. The River "Hemçik" that grows and fosters with the other various streams in the west of the country runs also into the River Yenisey. The surfaces of these rivers get frozen in the winter months and the river transportation made in the summer months cannot be continued. These rivers which used to be rich in respect of the density of fish has significantly lost this quality due to the unconscious hunting and the pollution recently.

There are approximately four hundreds of large and small lakes within the boundaries of Tuva lands. The biggest ones are the Lake of Aras, Tere-Höl, Cagalay, Süt-Höl, Hindiktig-Höl, Noyan-Höl. Fishing can still be done in most of these lakes. The lakes also get frozen in the winters just like the rivers.
