In order to preserve the state of peace, the class that established dominion in Kazan suffered from heavy conditions such as the submission to the desires of Moscow in the course of the selection of Khans, the sacrifices from the lands and the surrender of Otemis who was declared as the khan at a very young age (1548-1551) and his mother, Suyum biketo Moscow. However, these privileges did not provide any help for the protection of the state of peace. The fact that the possibility of "living together in a state of peace" could only be accomplished through a policy based on forces, struggles ad wars against the Moscow Russia was understood too late. Therefore, the class that favoured the forces and struggles came to power again and all the civil fights and turmoil stopped for a while. The thought of fight had united all the classes of the people. The Kazan government was firstly occupied in the resolution of the sovereignty affairs and it invited Astrakhan Khan Kasım's son, Yâdigâr for the enthronement in Kazan. When Yadigar came to Kazan, the confidence of the people in him increased a lot. The bucolic regions of Kazan rebelled against the Russia and they united with the central government. A panic was observed among the Russians. The Crimean armies that organised a military expedition against Moscow advanced towards Tula. These movements constituted reasons for the definite organisation of a military expedition by the Russians against Kazan. Russians besieged Kazan with a fortification division under the command of the English engineer, Butler with 150.000 soldiers and 150 artillery pieces. There was a big difference between the forces. There ere only 33.000 soldiers in Kazan and 15.000 cavalrymen outside Kazan. The attempts of the neighbouring Turkish countries and the Ottoman Empire for support and intervention were of no use.

The Russian army reached to Kazan on the date of 20th August 1552 and besieged the city from every direction on the date of 23rd August. The force of cavalrymen composed of 15.000 soldiers attacked to the Russians from the rear and they wear out them. Therefore the Russians could not achieve any results from the blockade and the Moscow army tried to get rid of these rear forces. The aqueduct that the Kazan people had built underground was mined and then exploded. When some of the city walls were exploded on the date of 30th September, the Russians tried to attempt for a general attack, but they were repulsed.
