Altunkopru Massacre (On 28th March 1991)

The army, invading the Kerküt, took the city under control on 27th March 1991. When Altınköprü’s people had not seen themselves in safety, they went on walking towards Erbil in north. Also some of these families began to go towards Turkey’s border, which was also in north. Army, occupied Altınköprü on 28th March 1991,and began to commit brutal murders. Approximately 100 innocent people, chosen by military forces, had been executed by shooting without any question because of their involvement in the rebellion. Among them,there were people’s relatives coming to Altınköprü for a visit. Besides they were totally unaware of the situation. Moreover, a lot of families had been shot with guns together with their 7-8 years old children.
