The names of Bacvanlı or Bacvan belonging to Turcman tribe mean Bacnak, which comes to Bac area.Family names which related to this society are known to be Bacalan around the Kerkük today.It's stated that Bacvans living in Iran settled the Musul after coming from the Habur or Ural mountain in the course of time, and this society relating to the Shafii Sect was living in Iraq in a scattered way. Some information conserning this society is found in the 16.century archieves.It's registered that tihs society interested in agriculture and stock breeding had 3200 varidats in H.932 (1250), in H.946 (1539) they had 125 individuals and 13 mücerreds, nad in the period of Murad the III. they consisted of 104 bennaks and mücerreds.Today there is a town called Bacalan connecting with Diyale city.The society living in Hanekin district connecting with the same city and some of whom are become Kurdish is called by the name of Bacalan.As for Bacalan family living in Kerkük, they have maintained their Turkishness so far.
