of Küçüm Khan (After the year of 1598)

Regardless of all the resistance, Küçüm Khan continued his gihts against the Russians. It has been known that he had even advanced towards the city of Tobolsk for a specific period (in the year of 1590). Since new detachments were sent from Moscow towards Sibir, the Russians gained power gradually; and they built new cities and castles in the regions. It has been also known that the Russian soldiers, and the Polish and Lithuanian people that were taken prisoners and the Kazakhs from the banks of Dneper River were brought to the city of Tobolsk. In accordance with this activity, the third city was founded under the name of "Tara" that was located near to Tura River in the west banks of Irtish River. The commander of the city of Tara was ordered to set in motion against Küçüm Khan.

The Tatar tribes that were submissive to Küçüm Khan suffered from several attacks of the Russians between the years of 1584-1595; however, Küçüm Khan could not be caught. Finally, in August of the year of 1598, Küçüm Khan was subjected to the Russian attack in the site of "Urmin" near to Obi River. In the course of the fight, the relatives of Küçüm Khan were caught by the Russians. However, Küçüm Khan could save his life again. The Russians took the family members of Küçüm Khan to Moscow. Pursuant to the month of August in the year of 1598, there has not been any information obtained about this Turkish khan that was a hero in the resources. Actually, upon this terrible shock, the political and military activities of Küçüm Khan came to an end. Küçüm Khan had lost his family members, khanate and all he had got. Afterwards, it has been understood that he had retreated to the southern regions of Sibir. However, he had not any power to resist and fight against the Russians. It has been known that he had been in contact with the Tsar Feodor Ivanoviç. He had requested that a region on the banks of the Irtish River would be abandoned to his dominion. Moscow Government proposed to Küçüm Khan to come to Moscow and to "comfort himself" in the service of the Tsar.

However, the old khan did not want to suffer from such contempt. He preferred staying in his own lands to "comforting himself" in Moscow. According to the information provided by Ebûlgazi Bahadır Khan; Küçüm Khan went to Bokhara; he stayed with Mangit people, and he became blind. Then, he died in the Hegira year of 1003 (1595?). However, it was supposed that this date was wrong since it has been determined in accordance with the Russian resources that Küçüm Khan fought with the Russians in the year of 1598. Afterwards, the Russians advanced towards the Lake Baikal. They passed over this lake and had the opportunity to reach to the Yellow Sea (Sea of Japan) through Amur River. However, when they reached to the Chinese borders, they encountered the Chinese people that were equipped with artillery pieces and they hesitated. We have observed that the forces could only be stopped by forces on this occasion.

Therefore, the eastern borders of Russia expanded more than 1.000 km upon a single movement just before the elapsing of thirty years after the decline of Kazan Khanate. Thus, the lands with an area of several millions of square kilometres were taken under the dominion of Moscow; and the Sibir country that was one of the most affluent and richest countries of the world was under the Russian domination.
