Pursuant to the year of 920, the Khirghiz people could not resist against the attacks of the Chinese armies in waves that firstly invaded the Kok Turk country and then Mongolia. Therefore, they left this homeland in the year of 924 and they retreated towards the more west (today’s Kyrgyzstan). Khirghiz people had lived under the domination of the Karahanli State between the 10th-12th centuries. In this period, there were big cities that were founded on the lands of Kyrgyzstan and the people were oriented much towards agriculture and trade. Therefore, there were great changes in the socioeconomic lifestyle of Khirghiz people that had been occupied with stockbreeding as a nomadic tribe in the beginning. Through the aforesaid socioeconomic developments, there were significant developments observed in the cultural life of the Khirghiz people. “Kutad-gu Bilig” that is the first masterpiece of the Turkish language was written by Balasagunlu Yusuf Has Hacib in this period.
