In the period when the Turkish Khanates in Central Asia started quarrelling with each other, Russians firstly captured the castle of Kazalinsk in the year of 1846. Then, they continued to invade the provinces of Turkestan. In this period, only the Russian armies that advanced towards Çimkent in the year of 1864 was totally defeated by the Hokand army under the command of Alim Kul. Meanwhile, Alim Kul heard of the news about the advance of Bokhara Emir towards Hokand. Therefore, he returned in order to defend the capital city. The defeated Russian army that benefited from this situation invaded Çimkent on the date of 22nd September 1864. Therefore, the struggles and conflicts between the two Turkish Khans caused the defeat of the Russian armies by the Turks to turn into a great Russian victory in the course of the history. Pursuant to the invasion of Çimkent, the Hokand armies under the command of Alim Kul contrinued to exhibit a cruel resistance against the Russian invasions. In the period of these fights, Alim Kul and his army shuttled between the lands invaded by Bokhara armies and the lands invaded by the Russian armies. Therefore, they ran in haste from one front to the other on a continuous basis. Finally, Alim Kul was killed as a martyr in the course of the defence of Niyaz Bey Castle against the Russian armies on the date of 23rd May 1865.

Pursuant to the death of Alim Kul, the Russian armies besieged Tashkent and Tashkent people defended the city in a heroic manner against the Russians for thirty-two days. Even in this period, Bokhara Emir Muzaffereddin did not abstain from the invasion of the capital city of the Hokand State. However, the Russian armies that did not show any differentiation of Hokand or Bokhara in the course of the invasion of the Central Asia invaded the country of Hokand State and then, the Russians also invaded the fields of domination of Bokhara Emirate in the years of 1867-1868. Pursuant to these events, the Russians invaded the Hive Emirate in the year of 1873 and Turkmenistan between the years of 1874-1875. Therefore, the Russians established dominion and control all over the Turkish lands in the Central Asia.
